“A lecture in the Department of Laser Science and Technology on Smart Home Technology.”

The Department of Laser Science and Technology organized a lecture on Smart Home Technology, its applications, and how to benefit from the significant advancements in this field.

Dr. Hadeel Fayyad Abbas explained that one of the manifestations of technological progress is the emergence of the smart home concept, which combines technology and organization to enhance the living experience within households.

She added, “The history of smart home technology is closely tied to the rapid development of smart devices and the expansion of wireless networks. Initially, smart homes were limited to lighting and heating control systems. As technology advanced, security devices and surveillance cameras became more common in homes, allowing individuals to monitor their properties remotely. This was followed by the introduction of smart appliances such as air conditioners, televisions, and ovens that can be controlled via the internet.”

Meanwhile, Professor Dr. Alwan Mohammed Alwan, Head of the Department of Laser Science and Technology, commented during the lecture, stating: “Today, smart home technology enables residents to control all aspects of their home life through smartphones or tablets. Devices can be operated, temperatures adjusted, security monitored, and energy managed, thanks to the integration of smart devices and the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Users can benefit from enhanced comfort, security, energy efficiency, and effective time management.”
