1– A Brief about the Study (Bachelor, Master): The applied chemistry branch was established in 2005, the branch grants a bachelor’s degree in applied chemistry. The study period is four years. This field is considered a rare field in Iraqi universities. The graduates will be able to work in the fields of applied chemistry in state departments, research centers, factories, and ministries such as the Ministry of Health, Science and Technology, Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Industry and Minerals, Environment, In addition to the private sector, such as chemical laboratories, food factories, paint factories, and others. In the academic year (2015-2016), the higher diploma in chemistry was opened in cooperation with the security services, and it was suspended after that. In the academic year (2017-2018) the study of a master’s degree in applied chemistry was opened and a master’s degree in general applied chemistry was granted to graduates of the first and second cycles, starting from the current cycle, the branch will grant a master’s degree in applied chemistry sciences with specific specializations (organic, inorganic, analytical, …)

2- Work fields for graduates: The graduates with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in applied chemistry sciences are able to work in the fields of chemistry in health, industry, environmental sciences, mineral laboratories, in addition to research and teaching fields.

3– Duration of study: Four years

4- The scientific department that grants the certificate: Department of Applied Sciences at the University of Technology

5- Scientific background • The scientific background of students admitted to the bachelor’s study: Graduates of the Iraqi secondary school or its equivalent from the scientific branch (biological or applied). • The scientific background of students admitted to the master’s study: The applicants for the master’s study must be holders of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry sciences or applied chemistry sciences exclusively. • The scientific background of the staff: The Applied Chemistry branch includes a constellation of holders of doctoral degrees, masters, bachelor’s degrees and diplomas in the specializations of chemistry and other sciences.
