📘 Department of Laser Science and Technology
The Laser Science and Technology Division aspires to be a leader in creativity and innovation, aligned with evolving societal needs and rapid technological advancements. It prepares applied laser specialists and research personnel equipped with high standards of knowledge and professional ethics. Graduates can work in hospitals, medical centers, cosmetic clinics, telecommunication and mobile companies, modern manufacturing industries, and laser system laboratories.
The department contributes to national sectors such as health, industry, defense, oil, and communications, with future outreach to the ministries of agriculture and environment, especially in integration with nanotechnology.

📘 Department of Biotechnology
Established in 2000, this department merges biology, chemistry, genetics, and nanotechnology. It addresses real-world issues such as disease diagnosis, genetic therapy, forensic applications, food security, biological control, and environmental protection.
Graduates can work in ministries like health, education, agriculture, environment, defense, and research centers. The department aims to launch a Ph.D. program focused on advancing capabilities in health, environment, and biotechnology innovation.

📘 Department of Applied Chemistry
Founded in 2005, this department offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Applied Chemistry. Graduates are employed in the Ministry of Health, Environment, Higher Education, and in chemical, food, and paint industries.
The Master’s program launched in 2017–2018 includes specializations in organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, and biochemical chemistry.

📘 Department of Mathematics and Computer Applications
Established in 1976, the department was renamed in 2014–2015 to reflect the inclusion of computer applications. It prepares graduates to work as math instructors, programmers, statisticians, and analysts in educational, financial, and governmental institutions.
Master’s research areas include fuzzy analysis, cryptography, optimal control, artificial intelligence, logic, fractals, chaos theory, and image processing.

📘 Department of Materials Science
Established in 1992, this department combines science and engineering to understand material structures and properties. Key subfields include metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites. Students study forming, heat treatment, and characterization techniques.
Research areas include nanomaterials, biomaterials, environmental materials, superalloys, magnetic and insulating materials, building materials, energy systems, thin films, and protective coatings.

📘 Department of Applied Physics
Unlike other Iraqi university programs that focus on theoretical physics, this department offers a four-year curriculum emphasizing hands-on training and real-life applications of physics. It includes lab work aligned with theoretical courses to improve understanding of phenomena.
Specializations include nanotechnology, biophysics, radiation physics, magnetic materials, solid-state physics, semiconductors, and material physics.
